Boultham Bioblitz

Boultham Bioblitz

Bio – Life

Blitz – To do something quickly and intensively.

In spite of the rainy start to the day, we were pleased to welcome several families keen to discover the amazing wildlife that shares their local park.

Children (and adults) armed with nets, magnifying bug pots and wildlife keys set out to explore the park in a bid to find and identify as many trees, plants, insects, birds and water dwelling invertebrates as they could in the time allowed.

As the sun broke through the clouds we were delighted by close up views of dragonflies and butterflies boosting our total number of species recorded to 54, not bad for a few hours ‘work’.

A big THANK YOU to all of the families who took part, to our fabulous volunteers, without whom our work would not be possible and to the Boultham Park team for letting us explore their beautiful parkland.  Please see the table below for our results.
